uno you were there for me in between realities we sang and danced routinely through their bleeding hearts theyre piggies underneath theres something up their sleeve a ring around the rosie rolling somewhere in the crowd for them to infiltrate your fun Uno was good company, sure they made mistakes but we all do and you know its true that no one is free if one of us is struggling to get through and the nostalgic bum in me just wants to amplify the truth but what good what it do? oh its under control oh its always under control they softly softly crush us into dust if we resist one tiny little bit and if we must we'll break or bust until the imbalance is fixed Uno wasnt there there the day that i came home i looked everywhere i tried them on their phone i can feel it in the air theres something going on now Uno wasn't the type to take so long to respond and then we got the dreaded call Uno had been killed by the Law the long arm of the Law can you feel it pushing down can you feel it pushin?

if i survive the night i'll tell you why i tried to hide beneath the light so bright i couldn't tell which one was left and which of us was right in time inside the extraordinary mind its rare to come across your kind you never got your chance to shine if i define the light inside your eyes Id never have to tell you why the sight of the afterlifes we witnessed while we waited for our rights... never ending storie if i survived the garden of delights and ate the ashes from your heights then i could rise above the lies ohhhh above the Nothing...

its tough to admit when yer wrong but i'm not a quitter but i quit and it sucks to be me but i know i got the privilege to walk safely down the street so lets talk lets disagree you say its an "attack" to criticize the dear police they got the guns the tanks we're on our knees michael stipe deserves better we dance and sing like perfect imitations of ourselves as human beings we laugh at the seven headed beast as it ties itself in knots and then falls back into the sea and no man is really free as long as one is suffering at the hands of these bullies and its not yet the end of the world you'll see michael stipe deserves better

were having the time of our lives pushing hard for the status quo ignoring the pain and the lies just so you can feel that much more comfortable you wont lift a finger to fight we build your prisons we steal your dreams to the sunken place down inside you know we have no standards only teams they change the rules right before your eyes then hide in the back with a heart of gold ignoring the pain and the lies its a must if you can run and join the carnival we're having the time of our lives we just pretend to listen then we sink our teeth our donors want us to appear nice and thats why we have no standards only teams

here we go again i need to listen before i speak thats where i learned to care when i became aware that there were others just like me and they were beautiful to the touch Oh i loved them so much and so i found the words that best described my sight and sound what i was witnessing was such a thing it was tough to narrow down and i was terrified to the touch i couldnt love them enough where we go from here i guess we'll find out in a tweet if there's one thing i learned its that the devil don't burn til you cut away his strings and let him turn bright orange to the touch the man has never known love before you go just know i wasn't trying to be deep i was alive for a while and ya'll made me smile and those are memories that we keep and youre beautiful a brief history of love

about

i named the songs on this album about three and a half weeks ago, just before i started writing the music...that was right around the time the news of george floyds murder began making headlines.
i started making the music for this album a few days before the protests began across the country. by the time i got to the lyrics the country had been lit on fire and i had seen hundreds of horrific displays of police brutality on my social media feeds, including live footage of undeniable and unnecessary brute force against peaceful demonstrators, civil servants, the homeless and the elderly...even journalists, medical personnel and essential workers caught up in the madness.

people protesting police brutality were met with the full force of that very brutality.

to some of us it was no surprise if you've been paying attention but the violence was still very shocking, perhaps because there was sooooo much at once.

i kept the names but wrote waaaay different songs than i had originally imagined. This album is a direct response to what ive seen and what others just call another day in america.

i tried to remain honest and humble in my message and my perspectives. i am angry, sad and ready to watch the system that brought us to this point burn to the ground.

we deserve better.
